We Had To Fight With The A/C To Keep It On:
We got to Willcox shortly after lunch and checked into the Quality Inn, which used to be the Best Western Plaza Inn. We got rooms 140 and 136. We took the dog and cat for a walk in the parking lot and talked to Kenny again right before he left the house to start the drive here. Gary spent much of the afternoon putting together the Borg fan from the box in the trunk. At least we got the computer up and running, though we hadn't connected to the internet or email yet. We went to dinner right before 5:00 at the Hopi Grill, the hotel restaurant. Kenny joined us there. We took out a steak for Sabaka. After dinner the only way to get the internet working was to use the device in my purse that had to be charged and reactivated for $50.00.
The room is cheap, but it’s not the best. It’s a good example of why motels aren't my favorite places. There aren’t enough electrical outlets. They are all by the window and the A/C. That means we had to move the table to that side of the room so we could plug in all our devices at once and freeze during the day when the A/C was still working. The room also didn’t have a DO NOT DISTURB sign.
The motel that night in Willcox turned out to be terrible. You had to fight with the A/C to keep it on.
Beware of the end of September when the motel jacks up the rates because of Rex Allen Days. Also note that I'm not writing this review based on one visit to the motel. I've stayed here many times. The best thing about the place is that it's pet-friendly.
Tip: The rooms in the courtyard around the pool are more likely to have better A/C. They are also closer to the motel restaurant.
