Dora Benley and her parents could have used the Edwardian steamer trunk pictured today on www.edwardwarethrillers.org to pack for their travels to Europe on the Lusitania. Dora’s mother, Mrs. Benley, could have stuffed her last-minute purchases at Macy’s in New York into it. It certainly looks sturdy enough to survive almost anything except the torpedo that sank the Cunard ocean liner on May 7, 1915.
