We ate at the Log Cabin Restaurant in Hurricane Mills twice last summer in 2012 on the way to the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal to board the Queen Mary 2 and on the way back to Tucson. It was very convenient for both dinner and breakfast because we were spending the night at the pet-friendly Best Western Hurricane Mills right off I-40 in Tennessee. The place has a charm all its own. Built one hundred years ago as a private residence, it is constructed of ten-inch hickory logs. The menu is pure country and southern. The fried chicken was so good that even our cat partook of it in our room. We ordered smoked ham, mashed potatoes in gravy with beans cornbread, and chocolate pie for dessert. It reminds me of my days at Duke in North Carolina as a student eating at Bullocks that also specialized in southern down home cooking.
