I wish I could attach a video to this review so you could hear the 21 gun salute the Citadel gave us on the evening of July 10 as the Queen Mary 2 sailed around the Harbor in Halifax, Nova Scotia accompanied by other boats. She was celebrating the 175th anniversary of Cunard Cruise Line 1840-2015. It was dark out and hard to take photos, but you could certainly hear the firing as well as the shouts from the shoreline as townsfolk called up to the ship and guests on deck 7 called down to the quayside and to locals sitting at restaurants watching us go by as they waved. The Citadel is a hill in the middle of the city where there once was a fort. But on July 10 it all magically came alive as if the original soldiers who inhabited the place were back cheering us on back out to sea where late in the evening all again was silent. We had just memories of a wonderful evening to lull us to sleep, memories of this city where Samuel Cunard was born.
