The Rosetta Stone has been a passion of mine for several years now It’s not the prettiest object in the world, but it’s one of the most important archaeological finds ever. It also played a key part in a thriller novel of mine. I wanted to see it for real. I’d seen it as a little girl when I was thirteen. I remember having it pointed out to me. I thought it was all black with scrawl etched in it. I thought it one of the most curious objects I’d ever seen. I made a point of joining the British Museum so I coud have free admission for special exhibits. Not that the Rosetta Stone is a special exhibit, but I could get a percentage off in the gift shop with my membership card. And I wanted to stock up on Rosetta Stone souvenirs. We made reservations at the Morgan Hotel, the closest lodging to the front gate. We made sure we knew where it was located. All the new construction makes it more confusing. I’m happy to report it’s still one of the most curious relics I’ve ever seen. And yes, it’s perfect for a spy novel. It has an air of mystery about it.
