Bear update: The Bear says we will have a Jack Is An Ass Party. TR says, “Jack crashed our Get Out Of Texas Party.” Moose say, “Me wish me could kick your ass, Bear!” Lou says we will have a Get Back At Jack Party. We will never ever Eat Jack Burgers Again.
We woke up to sun. Will it last? It lasted, and the temperature in Deming climbed to 89.
Tucson 101/74 Brooklyn 80/73 T-STORMS
We woke up at 7:30AM. We got dressed and took the pets outside. We went to the breakfast room near the front desk to pick up tea, coffee, OJ, yogurt, and rolls. We brought it back to the room. We checked out of room 129 at 10:31AM. We climbed out of the Rio Grande River Valley. The 1st pit stop was at exit 127 Bowlins The Old West Trading Post. I bought a bear statue and lots of postcards. The man behind the counter asked where I was from when he was wrapping up the bear ornament. I said we were going back to Tucson. He said, “You’re almost home. Only four more hours.” We got back on I-10 W. We had to slow down for a Border Patrol. A dog was obsessing on the car two in front of us. They waved us through. The 2nd pit stop was at exit 102 Bowlins Akela Flats. I bought seeds and more postcards. We were calling attorneys the whole time to the point I never got to open up my computer. At exit 85 we got off the road in Deming and went directly to the Wendy’s for lunch. We checked into room 109 at the Holiday Inn Deming at 1:16PM. We spent the afternoon in our room working on the computer as Gary continued to make calls. We went to dinner at the Lazy Lizard. They charged $95.00 for charred steaks! Outrageous! I complained and had two cupcakes removed from the bill. We took the pets for a walk around the Holiday Inn pool where there is an expanse of green grass.
At dinner my Leica camera broke for good. Before it was just dirty. Now it won’t work at all. I’m trying to use the Lumix, but I don’t know how to operate it. I’ll have to take a lot of video instead. It shows I should have spent more money on cameras last Christmas and replaced the Leica with a newer model. With the way I use a camera it needs to be replaced or updated every year.
The Leica took almost all the photos on this trip. It’s being retired right before we get back. We’ll have to try to repair it. As a precaution we downloaded all the photos onto Kenny’s computer and reviewed them --- all the photos from Winchester to Deming.
We spent the afternoon in our room calling more attorneys and doing paperwork. Farmer betrayed Gary. He was supposed to send $2000.00. I have only $650.00. I don’t know what we’re going to live on when we get back to Tucson, and Labor Day Weekend is coming up.
The Maids Are Always Lining Up At Your Door At 8:30AM. La Quinta Las Cruces 8/27/12
No sooner do we get up, get dressed, and take the pets out for a walk before breakfast than the maids start lining up in the hallway. We have to brush past and ask them to move aside. They make our dog skittish. And it’s only 8:30AM! We’re on vacation. We don’t plan to leave until after 10:00AM, and we haven’t even gone down to the lobby for breakfast. Why are maids knocking on doors and trying to rush you out? Granted most of the parking lot is now deserted. We must be hangers on. But still don’t the maids have eyes in their heads to see who is obviously not checking out yet?
Tomorrow’s blog will be Charred Steaks for $95.00 at the Lazy Lizard? You’ve got to be kiddin’ me.
Postcard:
We drove from Las Cruces to Deming and stopped at two Bowlins Trading Posts along the way. We await “The Thing” at exit 322 in Arizona. That’s also Bowlins.
Dog/Cat Report:
The dog thought it was great going back to Bowlins and having his photo taken against the Old West backdrop. He liked the grass in the courtyard of the Holiday Inn at Deming.
The cat liked to walk in the grass at Deming, too. He was under the quilt last night big-time. He started to drink water from the faucet this morning the way he does back at the house.
Still no contract . . .
