On July 2, 2015 the Irish Guards came from Buckingham Palace to Southampton to board the Queen Mary 2 and march playing patriotic music. Why were they here? It was the 175th anniversary of Cunard, of course. Up on deck 13 on the sports deck it was busy that afternoon with passengers waving flags and soldiers marching around to applause as you can see from my photos. It was a little bit like London aboard the ship. It seemed as if we were watching a Changing of the Guards performance. Then the guards disembarked and waved at us from the pier as we departed and sailed out towards the Atlantic Ocean. An unforgettable time was had by all.
