Bianca followed the trail of sound. Ahead she saw a patch of light. She stumbled and fell, then picked herself up. She emerged into a large cavern with an outlet to the sea straight ahead. She was perched up on on a ledge. It must be fifty feet below.
Thundering waves washed in just as Doc had promised. She heard a bellowing and honking sound. Below her lying on the rocks lay what looked like large colony of sea lions — large, blubbery creatures with short, thick hair. They measured six to ten feet long and weighed well over two hundred pounds each.
Tucked between two plinths among the sea lions she saw Harry with his face all smeared with mud. He held Little Katie who was gaping at the loud sea creatures in amazement and horror.
Bianca darted forward. She wasn’t watching where she was going. Her foot slid, and she plummeted down the wet, gooey slope full of slime. She tried to stop herself but couldn’t. She started to roll. She didn’t stop until she was wedged between two rocky plinths. She tried to pull herself up but couldn’t. Her one leg was caught.
Harry jumped her from behind. He tied her hands behind her back as she tried to fight him off.
"Go away!” she shouted.
You’re coming with me.” He insisted, kicking the rock aside that was trapping her leg.
Bianca gasped. She felt the barrel of a gun pointed in the middle of her back. He was pointing her toward another opening in the rock on the seaward side.
“Harry Fellini, you would shoot me?” She couldn’t believe it.
“I wouldn’t like it,” he said as he forced her to pace forward. “But it would be far better than letting Mrs. Baker convert you into being a Neo-Nazi.”
“Harry, that sounds crazy!” she protested. He just kept on poking the gun in her back. She thought how in the past he’d criticized Doc and called him a madman. He’d warned her away from him because he was supposed to be dangerous. But Doc had never ever put a gun in her back.
They hadn’t advanced very far when she heard Harry behind her suck in his breath. Doc said, “All right, Fellini, hands up and drop the little girl, pronto.”
