What importance can a solitary canon have nowadays? It’s been centuries since something like this medieval canon has been used by soldiers. But it has an impoortant role in my Edward Ware Thrillers novel called Hitler’s Spy. The heroine, Dora, is kidnapped by the evil-doer, Helga, who just happens to work for the malevolent Hitler. She and her husband have maps that he wants. So Helga makes sure that Dora gets stuffed down into the ruins of King John’s Palace right below this canon. The canon remains up on the ramparts. With a rope Dora manages to climb all the way up there and use the canon to her advantage in a move that Helga and Hitler don’t expect.
