I don't like cruise terminals in general, but if you have to pick one the Hamburg Cruise Terminal in Hafen City is the nicest one of the group of terminals we encountered in our travels this summer during Cunard's 175th anniversary. Unlike the grungy terminal in Southampton where you can see industrial activity all around the harbor, it all looks new in Germany. There's a lot of interesting activity in the harbor area. Even the locals come here as tourists. You can see beaches, places to sail, camp, etc. Right along in the river in the Harbor you can see The Lion King. As an added bonus, inside the terminal building there is a cafe where they serve rolls, coffee, and hot tea. There's even a souvenir stand, something I didn't find in Brooklyn or in Southampton. An where the ship stopped in Liverpool, there wasn't even a terminal building at all. So book your cruise to visit Hafen City in Hamburg. You won't be disappointed.
